Cytomel (liothyronine sodium) is a synthetic form of the active thyroid hormone T3 used primarily to treat hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid). It is also used to treat non-toxic goiters, manage thyroid cancer by suppressing TSH, and as a diagnostic agent for thyroid function tests.
